Lowell was born near Glidden, Iowa, to Austin and Laura (Weirick) Fisher. He attended Iowa State
University for three years and graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in January, 1943. He served
in the Army Air Corps and U.s. Air Force for 30 years, first as instructor pilot and squadron
commander in B-17, B-29 and B-47 bomber units, and later as operations chief in Atlas, Titan II and
Minuteman missile wings and air divisions. He was also an educator, teaching Mechanical
Engineering at West Point and serving as commandant over 20 Air Force ROTC college programs.
Lowell was married February 1, 1945, to Luella Rudi, who was also from Glidden, Iowa. After his
retirement in 1972, they moved to Colorado Springs, where they enjoyed touring in Europe and
wintering in Sun Lakes, Arizona. He is survived by his wife, daughter Linda Bledsoe (married to
Samuel Bledsoe), son James Fisher (married to Zelime Fisher), ten grandchildren and nine great-grand children.
He was predeceased by two brothers, a sister and his oldest child, Bruce Rudi Fisher.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 27, at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church,
