He was born on August 19, 1936, to Emilio and Ysidra Palacios. He served one year of active duty in the US Armed Forces and seven years active duty in the US Marine Corps, retiring from the US Marine Corps Reserves as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in 1977. While serving in the US Marine Corps Reserves, he earned his Bachelor's Degree from Southwest Texas State University, in 1977. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base after serving as a civil servant for 29 years. During those years he also worked at Rainbow Bread, Our Lady of the Lake University, Edgewood School District, studied locksmithing and cutting hair, coached soccer, raised rabbits and honeybees.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emilio and Ysidra Palacios, wife of 43 years, Gloria M. Palacios, sister and brother-in-law Reyes and David Hernandez, brother-in-law Hazael Aguirre, father and mother-in-law Aurelio and Leonor Morales, and sister-in-law Elia Mugica.
He is survived by siblings Jesusita (+Hazael) Aguirre and Isidra (Jimmy) Barraza; brother-in-laws Andrew and Armando Morales (Norma); sister-in-law Maricela I. Morales; children Alma L. (Rich) Palacios, Teresa P. (Roland) Gonzales, Gloria P. (John) Dunn, Louis M. (Kathy) Palacios; grandchildren Louis I. (Kristan) Palacios-DeHoyos, Veronica R. Gonzales, Desiree M. Perez, Joseph G. (Mariah) Palacios-DeHoyos, Jacob M. Palacios-Parra (Julie), Aaron V. Palacios-Parra, Alicia L. (Luca) Dunn, Christian-Daniel E. Palacios, and Arriana Palacios; Great-Grandchildren Lily M. and Ana S.B. Palacios-Parra, Ronin I., Ezra D., Ainsley G., Iolana N. Palacios-DeHoyos, Emersyn R. and Arlo J. Gonzales, beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and many other extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Louis’ life’s passion was providing for his beloved wife and family.
A visitation for Louis will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 5:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at St. Peter Prince of The Apostles, 111 Barilla Pl, San Antonio, TX 78209. Mass of The Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at St Peter Prince of The Apostles, 111 Barilla Pl, San Antonio, TX 78209. The committal service will immediately follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
