Born February 9, 1949 to Ambrose and Louise Kozielski in San Antonio, Texas, Lois graduated from St. Gerard High School in 1967 and briefly worked in a bakery learning to bake and decorate cakes. In 1970, she married Eddie King and they celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2021. Lois was especially proud of their two children, Brian King and Karen King Quillian. And in later years, Lois loved spending time with her grandson, Drury Quillian.
For many years, Lois was very active in the Free Methodist Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, singing in the choir, volunteering in numerous women’s group activities, and sitting on her church’s board of advisors. Throughout the years, she and Eddie developed many close friendships and she hosted Bible studies in their home. After San Antonio no longer had a Free Methodist chapter of the church, Lois and Eddie joined the Nazarene Church, where they volunteered with many activities and were an active part of the senior group.
Throughout the years, Lois also accrued many volunteer hours at Lackland Air Force Base, working in the pharmacy and distributing magazines to the base offices. Always kind and willing to help, Lois also found many opportunities to use her skills to bake and decorate special birthday and baby shower cakes as gifts for friends and family.
Lois and Eddie also were socially active in the Square Dance community for about 25 years, and they traveled to visit more than 100 different clubs across the nation. In 2008, the couple was recognized for having 2,000 visits at different Square Dance clubs. Along the way, they participated in square dance shows at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and Fiesta San Antonio. They even traveled with a group to Germany to demonstrate their dance skills there.
In their retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed cruises and visited several places, including Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands.
Lois is survived by her daughter Karen King Quillian and husband Eric of San Antonio, Texas, and grandson Drury Quillian. Sister in-law Barbara Williams of Clearwater, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, and by her beloved son, Brian King.
