Lessie Murline Howerton, Murle, was born May 30, 1927 in Armorel, Arkansas, passed away on July 19, 2020 at the age of 93. She is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Verdell Howerton; parents, W.E. and Edith Barnes; brothers, Johnny E. Barnes and William “Bill” L. Barnes. Her half siblings included W.E. Barnes, Jr., Tommy Lee Barnes, Robert (Lucky) Barnes, Anna Jean Barnes and JoAnn Brewer, all of whom preceeded her in death. Murle is survived by her son, Kevin Howerton; daughter, Linda McGraw; grandson, Keith Halpin; granddaughters, Kelley O’shields, Leigh Ann Howerton; and by her great grandchildren, Jessica Boland, Jacob Boland, Peyton Halpin, Jude O’shields. She was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 8541 for many years. Her talents in the kitchen will remain unrivaled. Her everyday meals were special, but she has left us many warm and wonderful memories of her love of baking and homemade candy making. She loved to dance and gave all of us a gift by sharing her love and appreciation of music of all types. There was always music in our home. We will deeply miss her love and laughter.
