LaRue Ann Payne

LaRue Payne was born on September 2, 1931 in Houston, Texas to parent's Carl Dewey Smith and Ola Reavis Smith.

LaRue attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas. After graduating in 1948 she worked as a secretary for Southern Pacific Railroad up until the time she became a stewardess for American Airlines. LaRue worked for American Airlines until her marriage to Robert W Payne Jr in 1961. She then became a housewife and mother. Her true passions in life were cooking, gardening, and raising her three sons.

LaRue Payne was preceded in death by her husband Robert W Payne Jr; and her brother Dennis Smith. LaRue is survived by her son Robert Wade Payne III, wife Ileana and daughters, Elise and Catherine; son, John Payne, wife, DeAnne and children, JP, Parker, and Ava; son, Richard Payne, wife Darlene and son, Gavin; her niece, Cindy Tate Richardson; her nephew, Keith Smith; her sister Oveta Smith Lucy and her sons Mark and Scott Lucy. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home on Austin Highway San Antonio, TX at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Children's Hospital of San Antonio at www.childrenshospitalsafoundation.org/donate (Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital).
