Kathy grew up in Mobile until she and her family moved to San Antonio, TX. She attended Incarnate Word college where she obtained a bachelor’s degree.
Kathy began teaching at Northside High School (later renamed John Marshall High School). She taught English and History and retired after 40 years. Teaching was her passion. She loved what she did and students complimented her for years, even after retirement.
After retirement she spent most of her time loving her family, taking care of her grandchildren, and supporting her parents. Kathy spent a lot of time volunteering at church. She was always willing to help out, whatever was needed, and she did it with a smile.
Kathy loved history, visiting museums, and reading. She also loved classical music and played piano when she was young. She had a vast collection of albums, including opera and could explain each one of them. Music soothed her soul.
Kathy went to be with our Lord on August 11th, 2022. She is survived by her son Joseph Gorena, daughter-in-law Stephanie Gorena, and her two grandchildren, Ashton and Taylor Gorena.
