Juana Maria Gonzalez, not “Juana” or “Juanita” or “Doña Juana”! She would immediately correct you, “Me llamo ‘Juana Maria’”! She was 68 when she passed away January 2, 2022. She was born in Mexico on March 17, 1953 to Manuel and Maria Inez Barbosa.
She was preceded in death by her father Manuel Barbosa, her mother Maria Inez Barbosa, and her son Michael Gonzalez.
She is survived by her son Henry Gonzalez, daughter Diana Patricia Gonzalez-Garcia, previous spouse, Jose E. Gonzalez and sister Olga Cecilia Barbosa.
Juana Maria died surrounded by her two biggest living treasures, her children.
Juana Maria was a story-teller. She always looked for the positive side of life, especially in her not-so-healthy days. She was straight-forward, never sugar-coated anything she said. She was genuine. She was a wonderful, sweet woman who loved her children over everything else.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 14, 2021 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. The funeral home will be departing at 9:15AM to attend Holy Mass of Resurrection at 10:00AM at San Fernando Cathedral, 115 Main Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205. Interment is to follow at San Fernando Cemetery No. II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237.
