Juan M. Tello

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberto and Concepcion Tello; son, Juan Tello Jr.; grandaughter, Adrianna Marie Tello; and 14 of his siblings.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Guadalupe Tello; children, Alberto Tello (Maria Louisa), Irene Torres (Ruben), Ermelinda Reyes (Jesse), Maria Ochoa (Roland), Daniel Tello (Oralia) and Mario Tello; 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

Juan spent his youth living in Poteet, Tx then relocated with his family to San Antonio, Tx. Juan worked for CPS Energy for 30 years before enjoying his retirement. He enjoyed working at his ranch and would spend hours wandering around feeding his cattle and clearing the land. Easter was a usual family gathering at the ranch along with special moments of weddings and birthdays. He enjoyed listening to conjunto music and dancing. Juan loved to play his accordion and would often be heard playing his favorite songs and invite his grandchildren to play along with a set of maracas. A favorite past time of his was fishing with his sons and friends and enjoyed eating fried catfish. He was a skilled hunter and would often have his children partake in his hunting adventures. Known to have great survival skills, Juan was known as being able to live off the land. Many memories involve him tending to his chicken coop and random animals he brought home. Having quite a green thumb, he had amassed a variety of fruit trees and vegetable plants in his backyard garden where he spent many mornings. Juan often spoke of his memories of the many trips to Mexico he went on with his family and mother. Juan was known for many things, the family provider being the most notable. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. On Thursday, October 17, 2024 a procession will depart the funeral home at 9:15 AM for a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Philip Benizi Church in Poteet, Texas. Interment will follow at Madre Dolorosa Cemetery in Poteet Texas.
