So sad to hear about Juan, his smile will truly be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Tonie and Linda and Family.  Was unable to attend the viewing and the funeral, but I was there in spirit.

My Dearest Cousins,
I want to express my deepest heartfelt condolences for the loss of my beloved cousin, Juan.   I was so sorry to hear about his death.  No words can ease the pain that you all are bearing, but I want you to know that my prayers and thoughts have been with you.  
Since I heard of Juan's passing away, my mind has been playing back such wonderful memories that I have cherished since childhood.  The Cortez Family has always held a special place in my heart.   I'll never forget the love that we grew up with.  Our families were very close and we shared a lot of love that never fades away no matter how far we are from each other.  My fondest memories are of all the gatherings we had growing up and spending weekends together at Holly St and 1st Street in Austin.  Just hanging out in the back yard, planning BBQs or meals, going to the parks, swimming, walking across the street to the fruit stand and getting snow cones, and going to church on Sunday mornings.  Our Holidays were even better; my Aunt always knew our favorite foods and she was a great cook.  Tamales for Christmas and I loved the German Chocolate cake she would make for us on Thanksgiving.  The baseball games at Easter, the picnics at Barton Springs and the cool water we swam in.  
The Cortez family was always there for us, especially when my dad passed away.  You all really stepped it up, you made sure my mom and our family never lacked for anything.  The constant visits, the love that was demonstrated, the help that was provided will never be forgotten.  If there is anything that we can do for you please know that you can count on us.  
I saw Juan at the mom's house a little after my husband, Dick, passed away.  He said he was in the area and dropped by for a visit unexpectedly.  We were so happy to see him.  And the last time I saw Juan was a couple of years ago when we ran into each other at Adelita's.  We must have both been craving barbacoa that day.  We hugged, talked a little and then I had the opportunity to pray and agree with Juan for healing.   After my brother Simon passed away he came to see my mother.  She was so happy Juan stopped by and they reminisced about old memories.  
It has been very comforting for me to know that our loved ones that have gone home are now together.  They are absent from the body and present with the Lord.   Death has no sting, only victory through Jesus Christ.  There is no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more tears in Heaven.  Our family members are walking the streets of gold, admiring the gates with pearls, and the foundations of the city walls decorated with precious stones (Jasper, Sapphire, Agate, Emerald, Onyx, Ruby, Chrysolite, Beryl, Topaz, Turquoise, Jacinth, and Amethyst).  What a marvelous sight that must be and we all look forward to seeing each other again when our time comes to be with the Lord.  
Juan was an entrepreneur in my eyes.  He was a wise and knowledgeable businessman.  He was a mentor to me in my early adult life.  Juan was a great man that we will miss very much. 
My Brother Jose gave me some great advice that I want to pass on to you all, Hold on tight to your memories for comfort and always remember how much you're cared for.

Toni and Family, I went to work for Juan in 1978 and worked for him for under five years; years that created a life time bond.  The fond memories of those years are vivid and the lessons learned under his mentor-ship are forever part of my life.  He was funny and smart; humble and generous.  The world won't be the same without Juan in it.
