Joyce Marie Pett

NOVEMBER 26, 1930 – DECEMBER 10, 26, 2022

Joyce Marie Pett, age 92, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Sherman, Texas to her parents, Glenn Mixon Sanders and Floy Marie (Blevins) Sanders. Several years later her sister Mary Glynn Sanders was born and sadly the family lost a stillborn baby brother. Joyce spent most of her childhood in Sherman.

Joyce met her future husband Ron when she attended a USO dance at Perrin Air Force Base. They later married on December 2, 1950. Ron soon was given an opportunity to attend Officer Candidate School in San Antonio, and then was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and stationed to Tokyo, Japan. Joyce and Ron loved their time in Tokyo, as well as when they were stationed in Zweibrucken, Germany. In between these assignments overseas they lived in San Antonio, Texas most of their adult lives. Ron retired in San Antonio after 20 years and was promoted to Major.

Joyce and Ron were blessed with six children, Richard, Jim, Chris, Tom, Jon and finally a little girl named Sandra. They loved their children very much, as well as their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christmas time was always a time to gather the extended families together where much love was shared.

Joyce was a proud graduate of Sherman High School and St. Mary’s University and equally as proud of her employment of over 30 years as a civilian stationed at Security Service, Kelly AFB, San Antonio, Texas

Joyce is survived by her children, Richard (Cathie), Chris (Carol), Tom, Jon (Laura) and Sandra, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Predeceasing Joyce were her spouse, Ronald Pett, her parents Glenn Sanders and Floy Marie Sanders, her sister Mary Glynn Barnett, and son, James Pett.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, (Shelter #1) 1520 Harry Wurzbach , San Antonio, Texas 78209.
