John W. Switzer was born on October 15, 1929 and passed away on December 28, 2013 at the age of 84. He graduated from Valley View High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. John lived and worked a majority of his life in Victoria, TX and Yoakum, TX. He was the owner of Switzer Oil Tool Co. for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Switzer, brother, Charles Switzer; and sister, Cora Geraldine Switzer. Surviving are his daughters, Robbie Soza (Carlos), Tricia Stearns, Marci Woolf (Frank), Donna Hengst (Larry); grandchildren, Tammy Moses, Jeremy Moses, Christopher Woolf (Michelle), Cari Norz (Greg), Ryan Hengst and Melissa Hengst; 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, January 8, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park. The family would like to give special thanks to Odyssey Hospice for the excellent care given to John. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local Animal Defense League, the City of Sugarland Animal Services or Odyssey Hospice.
