Joe N. Rangel went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2023 at the age of 92, and was reunited with his wife, Gloria Rangel. Joe was born to Felipa and Jose Rangel on July 18, 1931. Joe is survived by his five children, Jose, Raquel, Esther, Diana and Mary Helen and his son-in-law, Joe Martinez. As well as his grandchildren, Veronica, Amanda, Nathan (deceased), Rene, Andrea, Bianca and his 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Juanita Zapata, Esperanza Long, Rose Jimenez, and their families.
Joe started working with the City Water Board in 1956 and retired in 1992. After his retirement, he and Gloria enjoyed caring for their grandchildren, going to Dairy Queen, Luby’s, watching The Price is Right and working on outdoor projects. Joe enjoyed visiting his house in Port Aransas, Texas, fishing, learning about WWII and being everyone’s handyman.
Throughout his life he was always there to lend support to his family and friends. The adoration he showed his loved ones was immeasurable. He served as a role model to so many.
Joe will be remembered as a man of strong conviction with a wonderful sense of humor and a knack for storytelling. He was a friend to all. May his memory live in our hearts.
A Visitation for Joe will be held Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. A Rosary service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 10, 2023 in the funeral home chapel. A Chapel service will occur Monday, December 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino, 226 Cupples Rd. An interment will occur Monday, December 11, 2023 at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237.
