December 9th of 2017, James Claud Walls was gifted peace and eternal bliss at the doors of Heaven. He fought a valiant battle with cancer and other complications always with a positive attitude and a radiant smile on his face. He was referred to as Big Bear by his step-children and grandchildren, but Christian was the most important name he claimed. James was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 27, 1947 to J.C. and Belvia Walls. He grew up around the world being born into a military family. He graduated from high school and continued his education receiving his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma University. At the age of 70, he was reunited in heaven with his parents who preceded him in death. James was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife, Marsha Walls; step-children, Carter Cooper and wife Beckie; Brandye Gage; Gretchen Berner; Matthew Whitson and wife Velora; Megan Rodriguez and husband Steven; grandchildren, R.T., Carter II, and Ashley; Blaine and Kinley Berner; J.D. Morris, and Cooper and Griffin Rodriguez, with a new bundle of joy coming soon; as well as a sister, Janay Bishop and husband Keith; nephew, Grant; niece, Tina; and many other lifelong friends.
He lived life as a devout practicing Christian known for his kindness, cheerfulness and song. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home. A Celebration of his life will take place at 12 noon, Friday, December 15, 2017 at MacArthur Park Church of Christ, 1907 NE Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78217.
