Jack Arthur Matthews, beloved husband and father, passed away on October 2nd, 2024 in San Antonio, TX at the age of 80. He was born on July 5th, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA to loving parents who instilled in him a strong sense of loyalty, work ethic, compassion, and integrity.
Jack's life was defined by his unwavering love for his family. He was a true father figure. He is preceded in death by his parents Chet and Evelyn Mattthews; his beloved wife of 35 years Linda Leigh Matthews. He is survived by their 5 children: Craig (Kim), Kristin (Charles) Morales, Michelle (Mike) Evanyo, Jason (Bonnie), and Jeffrey (Kelly); as well as several grandchildren.
He attended Norwalk Highschool and Golden Gate College. While in San Francisco, he met the love of his life, Linda Leigh Jackson, and they were married June 25, 1966. Jack's devotion to his company led them from California to Illinois, New York, and settling in Texas.
Jack was a firm believer in hands-on learning and experience, which he passed on to his children. He was passionate about hobbies, and loved everything about cars whether he was racing them himself, restoring them, or watching a Formula 1 race. He was also enthusiastic about guns. Many weekends were spent at the shooting range with his family and reloading bullets around the dining room table. He also found joy in a good conversation and enjoyed a glass of scotch.
His memory will always remain strong in our hearts.
As per Jack's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
