Jacinta Mata, lovingly known as “Chinta”, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, May 30, 2013. She was born on July 3, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas; daughter of the late Juan and Pasquala Martinez. She is preceded in death by her husband Hector C. Mata and her 3 sister and 2 brothers. She is survived by her brother Jose Martinez (Maria) and sister Francisca Guitron (Richard) and children; Laura Medellin (Joe), Corine Mata, Velia Mata, Hector Mata, Jr. (Rosie), Rachel Perez (Greg), Patricia Ortiz (Jesse); Lawrence Mata (Perla), and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Jacinta was a believer that a warm home full of food and laughter is what mattered most. She enjoyed quality time with her family, and pursued many hobbies and interests. Amongst being a mother and grandmother Jacinta was an avid cook, gardener and seamstress. She loved to listen to music, watch her novellas and her beloved Spurs. She will be truly missed by all. Family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Jason Morrow at the UT Health System. The family also wishes to thank the entire staff at The UT Health system 12th Floor ICU unit and especially to Dr. Jay D. Pal, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their support and assistance. Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm on Monday, June 3, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino, 226 Cupples Rd with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. We will depart the funeral home at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 for an 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
