Isabel "Chavela" Torres

Isabel “Chavela” M. Torres entered into the loving arms of our Lord on December 30, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born on December 20, 1935 in San Antonio to Felipa Martinez and Manuel Torres. She was the youngest of two daughters.

Isabel graduated from Edgewood High School in 1953. She later on went to work for Awalt Concessions until her retirement, and started working at Coca-Cola where she was able to retire again. Isabel enjoyed various hobbies from crocheting blankets and making dolls to tending to the plants in her garden. She also enjoyed bowling, dancing, and sewing. Isabel loved to travel. She had girlfriends that would travel together to Cancun, Puerto Rico, Alaska and several other places. When Isabel was not busy doing the things she loved, she would tend to her mother, sister and any other family member that had a need. Isabel was a natural caretaker and would help anyone in need no matter what it took. Isabel took pride in her home, taking care of the legacy her parents left her. She also treated her neighbors like her extended family, always looking out for each other.

Isabel will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Manuel Torres, Felipa and Pedro Rios; sister, Janie Pedraza; and niece, Julia Hernandez.

Her memory will forever live on in her family, Rufino Hernandez (Maria De Jesus); Melissa Binkley (Jeff), Jessica Gonzalez (Benny) and Rene Hernandez .Long-time friends Alfred and Eva Alvarez; God-daughters, Natalie Alvarez, Leticia Rodriguez, Alexis Alvarez; along with niece, nephew, many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and even great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She will be truly missed by her family and friends. Her legacy and the legacy of her loved one's who went before her will continue to live on in our hearts forever
