To Gloria and family:

My heartfelt condolences over the passing of Horace, my colleague at work for many, many years.  Horace was a kind and respectful person.  He was witty and loved to make people laugh.  If you had a question about his department, Horace always knew the answer.  If not he winged it!!!  It was my honor to work with him.  May our Lord continue to comfort his wife Gloria and his children and grandchildren, and may he be reunited with his loved ones in heaven. 

RIP Horace; you will be missed.

I had the distinct pleasure of making Horace acquaintance years ago. 
Having me this distinguished Gentleman thru the San Antonio Football Chapter. 
I clearly remember when on one Friday Night, Horace filled in for our Line Judge. It began to rain as soon as we walked on the Field. and clearly recall when we came in at halftime how Horace kept mentioning that on this particular night he should have turned down this game and gone dancing with his wife how he had originally planned. We came in soaked at halftime and again at the end of the game. We joked about this night for many years. We will dearly miss Ol Horace. He was a great guy and excellent mentor to many of us younger Football Officials.

Heaven has gained another angel!
My Dad Horace has earned his wings and is now our guardian angel protecting us and keeping watch from heaven. 
Dad there’s no more pain that you have to endure throughout your frail body. 
Cancer had taken over but now you are free of all your pain and suffering. You fought a hard battle until the battle had no end in sight and you had to surrender to this dreadful disease to live the rest of your days as comfortable as could be. 
As the days passed it was harder and harder for you to make it through each day. 
It was so hard to see you so frail when you have always been so strong. I did my best to help care for you until your final hours. You can Rest in Peace now but I will miss your smile, your sense of humor and the phone calls to see how I was doing. 
It’s so hard to say goodbye but I know I will see you again because you said that we would and you would be waiting for me when it was my time.
I will love and miss you forever Daddy!💜😔💜

We met Horace along with Gloria around ten years ago at Holy Trinity Church Hall. It was a delightful experience from the start. From then on we got together for the first six year almost every week going out to eat at different restaurants.  We became good friends until the pandemic hit. Then, cancer came into the picture. It hit both of  our families, but his was fatal. 
Horace did his best to seek a path of life that lead to protect and provide for his family in a Christian way. We will miss his good humor,
and considerate ways.

So sorry to hear of Horace's passing.  We remember the good times working with him at the State for over 35 years.  We remember the laughs when he dressed up as Chiquita Banana.  He was such a character.  May your good memories together bring you solace.

My deepest condolences to Gloria and the Cardenas extended family.  I worked for Horace when he was a Civil Rights Director for the Department of Human Services.  I could not have met a kinder more gentler soul.  Horace was compassionate, fair, and a joy to work for.  This world is definitely a better place because he was in it.  I'm sure all the angels are rejoicing because he joining them in eternal life.    Thank you Horace for all your kind words and encouragement in the short time I worked for you.



It was a true pleasure working with Horace over my many years as Regional Administrator for the Dept of Human Services in San Antonio. He was a true professional and very good friend.

My wife, Carolyne and I enjoyed many good times with Horace and Gloria.. We have many memories from our travels to Santa Fe that we will always treasure.

Horace will truly be missed.

Horace was a great friend of mine, I would make it to his shows each day I worked at the park to get to feel is warm energy. He was truly one of the kindest men I have ever known and made sure the people around him were taken care of. I will forever cherish our talks and laughs we shared throughout the years at the park together. I send many blessings to his family, I hope they know he was truly loved by many.

I got to know Horace at Fiesta Texas.  He was 1 of 2 that I loved to talk with.  He was a wonderful person and he always made my day.  RIP my wonderful friend.

I was so sad to hear about Horace! I was one of the Stage Managers the first year of Majesty, and his smile and lit up the room! Even after I left Six Flags any time I would visit, I would always get a smile and hug. Prayers of comfort to his family.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Horace. He was one of the first football officials that I had the pleasure of working with. We worked many games together and I was super excited to see him at fiesta texas where I worked as well. We would always talk together on Saturday about our games on Friday night.  My condolences to his family. Horace was a great man and mentor and he will be sorely missed 

May he rest in peace.  My family met him at Six Flags.  He was always so pleasant and joyful when we would see him.  He remembered to always ask about my daughters and granddaughters.   He touched so many lives.  He will be missed.  

Horace always has been there for me at Six Flags. When I wasn't feeling well or if I wasn't into the shows. He made me smile and laugh. He had a great way of making your day better. He will be missed. Thank you Horace!! May God welcome home another Angel.
