She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family, her church, her community and served them all faithfully during her lifetime. She was a wonderful homemaker who especially enjoyed cooking, gardening, and reading the Bible. She loved children and cared for many of her nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy in life was playing with her grandson.
As a devout Catholic, she was an active member of Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in the 1980-90s and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in the 2000s, where she served in several capacities including lector, extraordinary minister, and catechist for many years. She was a great woman of faith whose motto was “I love you, Jesus, with no return.”
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Luis A. Rodarte; daughter, Bertha Rodarte-Luna and husband Albert Luna; grandchildren Xavier and Sophia Luna; son, Luis Artemio Rodarte, Jr and wife Yvette Uresti; sisters Sarah Garcia, Lucy Pina, and brothers Ruben and Oscar Benavides.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lydia Rodriguez.
Visitation and Rosary will be held on Friday April 19, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home at 910 North Loop 1604 East from 5:00-9:00pm with the Rosary beginning at 7:00pm. Mass will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit on 8134 Blanco Road at 10:00am on Saturday April 20, 2013 followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery on 17501 Nacogdoches Road.
Arrangements are with Sunset Funeral Home on 910 North Loop 1604 East. We respectfully request that all children under the age of 12 be discouraged from attending.
