Helen Louise Olson

Helen Louise (Zick) Olson, 91, passed peacefully unto her Creator July 21 in San Antonio, Texas. Helen was born and raised in Thawville, Illinois where she fell in love with her husband of almost 60 years, Arvin. Arvin and Helen lived in many locations throughout the country while he served as a pilot and officer in the Air Force. They retired in San Antonio in 1968. Helen filled much of her later years working in a secretarial role at Roosevelt and Madison High Schools where she made many cherished friends. In addition to being a life-long fan of the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs, her favorite pastimes included spending time with her family, quilting, gardening, walking and playing bridge. Helen was preceded in death by Arvin, their infant daughter Joanne, and their son Dan. She is survived by her daughter, Debby Sonnen and son-in-law Bob and their sons, Jarrett and Hunter, and their respective wives, Kristen and Maria. She is also survived by her sister Alice Kellar. Helen especially enjoyed her times with her seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Mia, Reagan, Daniela, Jacob, Brianna, and Adrianna. Services are pending at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association of Texas.
