Helen L. Boles, age 92, passed away December 30, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born and reared in El Reno, Oklahoma. She attended El Reno Junior college after graduation from high school there. She then worked in Civil Service for four years before becoming employed by Exxon Company U.S.A. and its preceding companies in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, for 35 ½ years, retiring in 1983. During her employment with Exxon she was very active in an educational organization of women employed in the petroleum and allied industries. She founded the Oklahoma City chapter and served as its first president and through the years, director and chairman of most committees. She also served the international association as regional director, 2nd vice president, and chairman of several committees. She and her husband moved to San Antonio from Oklahoma City in June 1990 and made their home at The Towers on Park Lane where she served on the Board of Directors from 1995 to 2006, as secretary of the Board from 1994 to 2004, and as assistant secretary of the Board from 1992 to 1994 and from 2004 to 2006.
Mrs. Boles was preceded in death by her husband, L/Col James N. Boles, USAF retired; her parents, Henry Bowman Little and Sally Pearl Little; her brothers Olin Henry Little and Taylor Eugene Little, Sr.; and nephew Dr. Taylor Eugene Little, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Boles Relf and her husband, Mark; grandsons, Paul Duffy-Relf and wife, Dawn and Thomas Noble and wife, Sara; great-grandchildren, Mary Katherine and Atticus James Duffy-Relf and Jackson Wyatt and Connor Grey Noble; niece, Dr. Cynthia Little and her husband, Dr. Len Braitman.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 1:15 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Animal Defense League of Texas or charity of one’s choice.
