Hector Mario Chavera, aged 66, passed away December 2, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. Born on September 24, 1948 in Ramirez, Texas to Domingo and Herminia Chavera. Hector attended Texas A&I University, employed 14 years at Western Company, VFW member and also member of St. Anthony Claret Catholic Church. He was an officer in the U.S. Army with tours in Vietnam, receiving the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife Rosa Chavera; son, Luis Javier (Eileen) Chavera; daughters, Christina (Alberto Jr.) Cardenas, Amber (Joe Matthew) Benavidez; brother, Jorge Luis Chavera; sisters, Diana (Liborio) Saenz, Leticia (Raul) Rios; grandchildren, Simon (Yadira) Anguiano III, Brenda (Horacio Mendoza) Anguiano, Albert Damian Cardenas, Fabian Xavier Cardenas, Marc Cardenas, Kaitlyn Janelle Chavera, Jakob Dylan Chavera, Emma Grace Benavidez, Duke Benavidez; great-grandchildren, Mia Anguiano, Bryson Elijah Anguiano, Brooklynn Mendoza; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Rd on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at St. Anthony Claret Catholic Church, 6150 Roft Rd, 78253 with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
