Guadalupe (Lupe) Fuentes Talamantez was born in Mackay, Texas on August 9, 1924 and entered eternal rest on October 5, 2023 at the age of 99. Lupe was preceded in death by her first husband, Francisco Hernandez; second husband, Santiago (Jim) Talamantez; parents Sara and Luz Fuentes; sisters Marcela, Carmen, Maria de Jesus, and Cecilia; brothers Luz, Alfredo, Gregorio, and Andres. She is survived by her brother Esteban, children Mary Helen, Teresa, Sara and Frank; grandchildren Antonio and Rebecca and by stepchildren Florencio (Edna), Manuel (Miranda), Ralph (Diane), Pablo (Elaine), Paula, Santiago Jr. (Jessica) and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Lupe was a seamstress by profession and created beautiful outfits for her customers to include casual wear, prom dresses and wedding and bridesmaid dresses. She also enjoyed making quilts and gifting them to everyone. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, and gardening. An excellent cook, we will miss her special cakes and making tamales at Christmas time. She loved games shows and watching the Texas Rangers play on TV. Luck was always with her on gambling trips to Kickapoo in Eagle Pass and was always ready to go at a moment’s notice. She and Jim also enjoyed frequent trips to Las Vegas and to Wisconsin to visit family. Her stepchildren and grandchildren, especially Manuel and his family, enjoyed traveling to San Antonio and always made sure to include Jim and Lupe in their visits. Lupe led a long and productive life as a devoted mother, grandmother and wife and will be missed by all.
