He enlisted in the US Army and served during the Vietnam and Korean wars. Following his 30 years of military service he became a postal carrier for 12 years. He was an active member of his church, St Thomas More, a member of Knights of Columbus, and a life member of VFW Post 8541.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years Katherine “Kay”, his 2 daughters, Rose, & Kathy, his 2 sons and their wives, Gordon Jr, & Brenda, James, & Stacey, his 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his sisters, Annette, Betsy, Christine, Diane, Eileen, Kathleen, Melvina, Nancy and Yvonne and his brothers, Eugene, Wilfred, George.
The family would like to thank the doctors & staff of BAMC, and Lackland Wilford Hall, the nurses & staff of Brookdale Alamo Heights, and hospice for their care and compassion.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 1st at 6 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, followed by
Rosary at 7 pm. that same Evening.
Mass: Wednesday, May 2nd at at 9:30 am at St Thomas More Catholic Church followed by Graveside Service with full military honors at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery.
