Mrs. Gladys M Salazar-Finney, age 81, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. Gladys was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to Jose and Marcilina Matos On July 2, 1942. Gladys went to school in Bronx, New York and moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1974. She married Robert Finney on July 2, 2013 and resided in San Antonio, Texas. She was passionate about children and was a daycare director for NE YMCA for 10 years. She was involved with her children in their various sports and activities throughout the years.
Gladys M Salazar is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Marcilina Matos, her husband Santiago Salazar Jr., her oldest brother Porfi Matos, and her sister Sylvia Gonzalez.
Gladys M Salazar is survived by her brothers, Louie and Irene Matos and Henry and Hilda Matos, husband Robert Finney, her sons Steven and Laura Salazar, Kenneth and Brenda Salazar, Derek and Annatte Salazar and Shawn and Victoria Salazar, John and Yvonne Finney, James and Debbie Finney, Robert and Brenda Finney, and Christopher Finney. Her grandchildren Kyle Salazar, Lauren Salazar, Sarah Huxell, Carl Salazar, Claire Salazar, Andrew Salazar, Hannah Garcia, Isabella Salazar, Jon Peter Salazar, Santiago Salazar, Dominic Salazar, Annabel Salazar, Thomas Salazar, AnnElise Salazar, Jordan Finney, Kenna Finney, Addyson Finney, Jarod Finney, Luke Finney, Michael Marmolejo. Her Great-Grandchildren, Aiden Salazar, Grey Huxell, Leighton Huxell, and Greer Huxell and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Gladys will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A rosary will occur Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A eulogy and remembrances will occur Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218. A committal service will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209. A reception for immediate family will occur Friday, November 17, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218.
