Gina S. Nira

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Gina S. Nira went to be with her Lord on April 15, 2012 at the age of 74. She was born April 23, 1937 in Panama City, Panama to parents, Constantino and Rita Sosa. Gina worked at Alamo Heights Rehabilitation Center for 14 years. She was extremely caring and giving of herself and dearly loved by the staff and residents alike. Gina’s heart belonged to her family which she took great pride in. She often showed her love for family and friends by preparing marvelous dishes for them. Gina will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jose Juan Nira and her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Joe F. Nira; sons, Jack Nira and wife Maria Elena and Joe F. Nira, Jr. and wife Vanessa; daughter, Rita Trevino and husband Jose; grandchildren, Christina Nira, Paul Nira, John Nira, Massimo Trevino and Emily Grace Nira.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 5-9pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be Friday, April 27, 2012 at 12:30pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
