Gilbert Gomez Jr.

Gilbert Gomez age 71, passed peacefully at home on July 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 9, 1952, to Gilbert and Irene Gomez in San Antonio, Texas. His passing has left a huge void in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. Gilbert was a member of the Army National Guard. He married the love of his life, Diana Villarreal on May 15, 1975, and recently celebrated 48 years of marriage. He worked for SAWS where he retired after 26 years. Gilbert played baseball, made many friends, and enjoyed going to his kids’ games. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them, Sundays were for BBQ, watching the Dallas Cowboys, the San Antonio Spurs and for listening to his favorite “Oldies” music, he was a huge Spurs fan and was especially excited with the recent signing of Wembanyama “Wemby”.

He is survived by his wife Diana, daughters, Esmeralda (Henry), Debi, Nadia (Anthony), Savannah (Josh), son, Justin, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, Rachel Garcia, and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert Sr. and Irene Gomez and his brother Jesse Gomez.

A visitation for Gilbert will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78205. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church, 350 Sutton Dr, San Antonio, Texas 78228. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches, San Antonio, Texas 78266.
