George Knight

MSgt George Knight (USAF RET) went to be with the Lord on Saturday October 26, 2019. He was 84 years young. George was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Leah Joy Knight, his sister Connie DeNisco and his granddaughter Tracy Marie Baker. He is survived by his sisters Joyce Hotai and husband Ray as well as Edna Carrozza and husband Al. He will be dearly missed by his daughter Donna Baker and husband Garland, and his son George T. Knight and wife Susan.

His life is also being celebrated by his grandchildren, Tyler Knight, Trevor Knight, Connor Knight and wife Courtney, Megan Rodriguez and Dylan Irby and husband Ge’Angelo, Michele Pagel and husband David, Kirsten Ramey, Lauren Ramey, Grant Ramey and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was intensely proud of his great grandchildren, Kevin Rodriguez, Kasia Gonzales, Robbie Tapia, Aura Irby and Sara Pagel.

George was born in Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, England on June 5, 1935. His parents were George Richard Arthur Knight and Hilda Lee Knight.

After immigrating to the United States in 1952, George enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was trained as a Dental Laboratory Technician. He completed a twenty-year career in the Air Force and retired in 1974. Two follow-on careers allowed him to continue providing exceptional dental laboratory support and education. First as an assistant professor in the Dental Laboratory Technology Program at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School followed by a civilian position in the Orthodontic Program Laboratory at Dunn Dental Clinic at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

He spent his retirement years traveling around the U.S. and to many different countries. He enjoyed regular trips to various casinos where he became adept at winning on the video poker machines.

His last 10 years were spent with his best friend and fiancé, Sylvia “Sam” Johnson, who was also his living angel as she took care of his every need.

George’s legacy is the solid family that he nurtured and guided. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends, but his absence will be felt most by his beloved Sam.
