Freddie Alonzo Rangel

Freddie Alonzo Rangel was born on October 21st, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Frank Rangel Sr. and his brother Rudolfo Epimenio Rangel. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Rangel, his daughter Amy Lynn Rangel, daughter in law Hannah Smith Rangel and two precious grandchildren, Luna Frances Rangel and Joaquin Sisu Rangel. He is also survived by his mother, Sylvia Rangel, and his four brothers: Frank (Luisa), Robert (Isabel), Gilbert (JoAnn), and Richard (Rose); brother in law: Thomas Cuellar (Linda); sisters in law: Gloria Morales (John), Connie Garay and Elida Alfaro (Tony).

Fred was a family man who loved building things with his hands, serving the Lord, and making his grandchildren laugh. To know Fred was to know an unwavering love, and he will be missed beyond measure.

Fred graduated from Memorial High School here in San Antonio. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture in 1978. He later in life attended Latin American Bible Institute here in San Antonio and graduated with a diploma in Biblical Studies.

Fred was President/CEO of ADCO Master Builders Inc., a design-build firm he founded in 1991. With ADCO, he pursued his passion for design and architecture and built many commercial and residential structures in the community.

Fred had a passion for politics and ran in four local/state campaigns. He currently served as a Precinct Chair in the State Republican Executive Committee, District 26 and served as President of the Republican Party of Bexar County.

In 1973, Fred met Debbie, his high school sweetheart. Their bond grew, and they married on August 10th, 1974. They were blessed with their only child, Amy, on September 30th, 1981. Fred and Debbie were married for 47 wonderful years.

Outside of his career, Fred was very passionate about God and spent most of his life serving the Lord in numerous ministries. He began his first ministry at La Trinidad A/G Church in San Antonio and served as Youth Minister. He later served as Associate Minister at East Central A/G Church. Fred was currently a member at Westover Hills Church. He gave countless hours towards volunteering in different departments of church ministry where he felt there was the most need.

Fred enjoyed playing the game of golf, playing his guitar, and going dancing with his wife on Friday nights. Most of all, his newfound and favorite hobby was playing with his grandchildren Joaquin and Luna. He loved teaching them how to do his famous whistle and fixing things like “electricity” for them.

Fred was a family man who loved, loved to laugh. He loved bright colors, singing, dancing, and music. He loved being surrounded by good people, and was known for sharing God’s Word with them. Our brightest memories of Fred are the time he spent with his grandchildren. On his last day on this earth, Fred fixed and painted a Tonka truck for Joaquin, shared ice cream with Luna, and ate waaay too much pizza with them. It was a perfect day for Fred.

Fred’s family will most certainly feel his absence without him in their lives. But, we can say Fred touched each and every one of us and has left us with memories we will cherish forever. We will certainly miss him, however, we rejoice that without a doubt, we know he is now in the presence of the Lord in Heaven!

Fred Rangel fought the good fight, never lost faith, and finished his race strong. He will hear his heavenly Father say to him, “Well done My faithful servant.”
