

Feliz Garcia Luna went to heaven peacefully on October 27 in the presence of her family after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke Friday evening. She lived a long, full, and enthusiastic life. She will be missed by the many who benefited from her love, wisdom, encouragement, and generous soul. Feliz was born in Laredo, Texas, on November 20, 1919, where she lived until marrying David Eliseo Luna in 1948. The couple moved to San Antonio, where she had lived since. She is survived by her son David Luna and daughter-in-law Anita Luna, daughter Margaret Luna, and daughter Josie Barrett and son-in-law Michael Barrett; granddaughter Andrea Celeste Aguilar and her spouse Justin Aguilar, grandson Neil Andrew Solis and Anna Piñeda, and granddaughter Anna Feliz Barrett; six great-grandchildren; sisters Maria Alamar Maciel and Esperanza G. Gutierrez of Laredo, Texas; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years David E. Luna Sr., her mother and father Gonzala Gil Garcia and Fidel Garcia, and 7 of 10 brothers and sisters.A dedicated life-long learner, Feliz graduated from Laredo Martin High School in 1937 and studied floral design at San Antonio College, where she obtained an associate’s degree. Feliz began a long career in civil service at Laredo Air Force Base and moved to Randolph Air Force Base in 1948. After time away to raise her children and sell Stanley Home Products, she returned to civil service at Kelly Air Force Base in1964. She retired in 1983 and opened The Golden Rose flower shop in 1984, where she worked until she was 87. Feliz was a business woman with diverse interests and talents. She was active in the floral industry for many years, even as she pursued other interests including ceramics, gardening, and reading on diverse topics. She was a faithful and active member at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Parish from its opening, exercising parish leadership as president and past president of Sociedad Guadalupana, performing countless charitable works, and participating in the Spanish Choir. Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home on 226 Cupples Road on Tuesday, October 30 at 4:00 p.m., followed by recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon at St.Martin de Porres Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 31. Interment to follow in San Fernando Cemetery II.
