Born on May 26, 1988 in Arlington, Virginia, Evan moved to San Antonio, Texas with his family at the beginning of his senior year at Clark High School.
A 2011 graduate of Northwest Vista Alamo College, where he pursued his interest in information security, Evan clearly knew what a jpeg was … and then some. He had a strong work ethic and a zeal for customer service, assisting clients from around the globe as they grappled with technological gremlins few understood better than Evan. As a valued employee of Worldwide Clinical Trials, he explained solutions with patience and professionalism, traits greatly appreciated by those who depended on his knowledge to get back at their job quickly and with confidence that their systems were secure.
A lover of all types of music — from Houston rappers to Gregorian chanters — Evan sought both inspiration and relaxation in a wide array of sounds. He enjoyed creating his own mixes as well, drawing from his interest in various genres and archival recordings through the years.
But his greatest passion was teaching and encouraging his 7-year-old son, Jackson Charles Bloom. He never tired of introducing Jackson to new concepts and advanced educational Youtube subjects, explaining complex matters to him with calm and understanding. Jackson will take the life lessons learned from his father into young adulthood, and hold them dearly as he ages.
Evan loved taking Jackson fishing on the Gulf Coast of Texas. A recent trip to North Padre Island reminded him of how much he loved being on the water, to which he was introduced as a Boy Scout in a McLean, Virginia troop that emphasized aquatic activities and safety. He attended high adventure scouting opportunities in the Canadian boundary waters as well as in Key West, Florida. Evan’s ashes will be spread in the Texas Gulf Coast.
In addition to Jackson, other survivors include his mother, Luanne; sister Alyssa; niece, Lylah and father, David, all of San Antonio, as well as a great-aunt Marilyn Mohr, of Toledo, Ohio and other far-flung relatives. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your own favorite charity. Evan was not the type of person to tell any of you where to contribute. But we’re sure he would most certainly appreciate any charitable contribution you might make in his behalf.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.SunsetNorthFuneralHome.com for the Bloom family.
