Edna Mary (Etta Mae) Tatsch Theis, passed away August 12, 2016 at the age of 91. She is survived by her son, Karl Theis; daughter-in-law, Mille; grandchildren, Andrea and Jacob; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin (Eddie) Tatsch; mother, Margaret (Margie) Hauck Tatsch; and husband, Norman Theis (January 18, 2014)
Etta Mae was born on April 13, 1925 in San Antonio, attended St. Gerard’s Catholic School thru 9th grade, and graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1943. She was then employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. accounting department (1943-51) and Pacific Telephone (1951-52). She married her childhood sweetheart, Norman, on November 23, 1948. In 1953 she terminated her employment with the telephone company to devote her life to being a loving and dedicated granddaughter, daughter, wife, mother, aunt, niece, cousin, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend. Etta Mae’s priority throughout her life was to help others. Her hobbies included photography, bowling, dancing, card games, canasta, cooking, exercising, and more. She was a devout Catholic and spent countless days helping with church functions. She lived in Bexar County and San Antonio until 2001 when Norman and Etta Mae moved to the Medina County ranch, south of Hondo, to be closer to Karl, Mille, Andrea, and Jacob. Etta Mae was an avid sports fan and as a mother enjoyed attending Karl’s sporting events in grade school, high school, and college. Norman and Etta Mae “never missed a game”. Likewise, as a grandmother, Etta Mae enjoyed attending as many events as possible that Andrea and Jacob participated in. Etta Mae and Norman also were San Antonio Spurs season ticket holders for over 30 years.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be 12 noon, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Park. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.
