Esther D. Sexton, born March 29, 1920 to Joseph and Elvina Deshotels, was called home by the Lord on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at the age of 92. During World War II, Esther helped the war effort by building ships at a naval yard in New Orleans, LA. Later, she was an accountant in the civil service. Esther was an avid quilter, reader and genealogist who authored a book on her research. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of First United Pentecostal Church of San Antonio for over 40 years. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin D. Sexton; sister, Retha Frame and brother, Titus Deshotel. She is survived by her son, Herbert A. Sexton and his wife Stanislawa; daughters, Renee Williams and husband Jerry and Lisa Mau and husband Gary; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Andy and Paul Deshotel and a sister, Dee Malatesta. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 3:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.
