Erica Jean Dimick, from San Antonio, Texas passed away on September 22, 2023, at 52 years of age after her courageous battle with ovarian cancer over the past two years. She always wore a brave face and while ill she never strayed from her devotion to faith, family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Her legacies as a devoted mother, wife, and faithful friend will live on in the many lives she touched and the many people who will carry her with them.
Erica was the second oldest of seven children, born on July 23, 1971, in San Antonio. She is preceded in death by her dear grandmother, Cecilia Roberts, three sons, Tristan, Garrett, and Daniel Dimick, mother-in-law Frances L. Dimick and her sister-in-spirit, Loretta Ortiz.
Erica is survived by her loving husband, William E. “Bill” Dimick III, beloved sons, Nicholas L. and Noah T. Dimick, parents, Tom and Charlotte Magott, and her adoring six siblings, including Laura and Orlando Tamez and their children Khirsten and husband J.R. Bynum, Regina, and Rebekah, Sandra and Desiderio Valdez and their children Desi, Bernadette, and Benjamin, Christopher Magott and Billy Jack Snelson, Valerie Magott, Tony and Chenoa Magott and their children Jovan, Jonah, and Cecilia, and Elizabeth Magott, as well as her father and mother-in-law William E. and Joanna Dimick, Jr. and step-brothers and their wives David and Sara Zarczynski and Adrienne and Sarah Zarczynski. There are also her many many caring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who filled her life with joy beyond measure.
Erica graduated from St. Gerard High School in 1988, where she was Valedictorian of her graduating class. Upon graduation she attended The University of the Incarnate Word where she majored in Nursing and graduated in 1992 as an RN and began working at The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, formerly Christus Santa Rosa. She served as a RN for nearly a decade working in children’s day surgery before transitioning to full-time homemaker. In her post-career years, she has had incredible devotion to the St. Pius X Parish community, including serving as PTA president for the school, volunteering in the church office, and, most recently, substituting in the classroom.
Erica’s family was her life’s work. The legacy she has built and the care she gave can be found among the many faces who had the privilege to call her a sister, daughter, mother, wife, and friend. Erica’s proudest achievements were her boys, Nicholas and Noah, whom she supported in their many interests and for whom she was a rock. She spent her life giving to others behind the scenes, supporting the people who meant so much to her, and providing a service to her community few can hope to achieve with little recognition.
One of the most important people in Erica’s life who she helped grow into the man he is today is her loyal husband Bill Dimick. Bill and Erica met in 1987 in high school and dated for seven years before getting married on December 10, 1994. Their marriage was built on laughter, understanding, heartache, and unimaginable joy. Bill attributes the successes of his life to Erica’s unwavering support and love.
Erica was a light, and that light will continue to shine through the many people who knew her and will be felt in the love those people will spread. Thank you for being a part of her journey, her life was worth living because of the many people she called friends.
