Elizabeth “Joy” Brown passed away peacefully on June 21,2021. Joy was born to James William “Bill” McMahon and Iris Mildred McMahon on December 27, 1936 in a rural farming community near Post, Texas. Joy lived a fulfilling life as a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, baking, gardening, painting and crocheting. Joy was a homemaker and mother, living in, Ft. Riley, Kansas; Germany; Ft. Benning, Georgia; Lubbock, Texas; Ft. Bliss, Texas and San Antonio, Texas. After her children were grown Joy managed retail stores and was loved by all that knew her.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Iris Chandler.
She is survived by her children, Deborah and Wayne Staysniak of San Antonio, Jeff and Sherry Brown of North Richland Hills, Beth and Nelson Ramirez of San Antonio and her grandchildren, Stephanie Thornton, Alexis Ramirez, Allison Brown, Matthew Brown, Brandon Plummer, Cami and Callee Lewis, her great granddaughter Rori Ebner, her sister Linda Chapin and her nieces Crystal Cocklin, Denise Fleming, Sabra Ellis and Melissa Rea.
Visitation will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, June 26,2021 at Sunset Mausoleum II Chapel with funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM.
In remembrance of Joy’s love for animals, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ASPCA.
