Dorothy Hagen

Dorothy Rakowitz Hagen, 77, of San Antonio went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 20, 2022. She was born on January 11, 1945 in Ganado, Texas to the late Alban & Rosie Yendrey Rakowitz. She enjoyed spending time at her property in Hondo, traveling with family, going on cruises and gambling. You would always know where you stood with her, because she would give it to you straight and didn’t like to mess around. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who is deeply loved and greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years Lynn Hagen; son Tracy Hagen and wife Christina; grandchildren Sharon and Colton Hagen; sister Ruby Sawyer; sister-in-laws Camille Rakowitz, Maxine Rakowitz; brother-in- laws Oscar Tudyk, Robert Zaiontz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Carl Hagen; sisters Gertrude (Herman) Stark, Mary (Ray) Boehm, Justine (Eugene) Vesely, Frances Tudyk, twin sister Anna (Bob) Reyher; brothers Ray and Albert Rakowitz; sister-in-law Sylvia Zaiontz; nieces Brenda Sawyer, Pat Atchley; and nephew Daunt Connell.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday, December 6th from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m., with a Rosary to follow.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 7th at 11:30 a.m. at Church of the Good Shepherd, 1065 E. Live Oak Rd, Schertz, Texas.

Following services, internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, Texas

Pallbearers: Colton Hagen, Randy Rakowitz, Brian Barr, Zachary Miller, Bradley Hillyer, Corey Hillyer, Ryan Tudyk, Garrett Bass

Following internment, you are invited to return with the family for a reception in the Church of the Good Shepherd Hall from 2:00 – 3:00

In lieu of flowers or plants, bring photos or mementos of Dorothy to share at the reception. Please take your items home when you leave.
