Dorothea (“Dot”) Roberts passed away on June 21, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. Dot was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on July 10, 1928, the second daughter of Verna and E.B. Roberts, Jr. of Booker, Texas. She lived in Booker until age 9 and thereafter attended elementary and middle school at Sacred Heart Academy in Wichita, Kansas. Dot graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1946. Her education continued at Marymount College in Salina, Kansas, graduating in 1950 with a degree in music. She was an accomplished piano player who possessed “perfect pitch”, and attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago for one year. Dot spent many years living and working in Chicago, before moving for shorter periods of time to Scottsdale, Albuquerque and Dallas. In the mid-1980s Dot moved to San Antonio and spent the rest of her life here, where she found the people to be extremely friendly and welcoming. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Parish. She absolutely loved her Yorkshire Terriers, of which she had several throughout her life. Her last four-legged companion was her cat named “Maestro”.
Dot is survived by her sister Rosemary Cahill of Seattle, plus nine nieces and nephews: Kevin (Nancy) Cahill; Dennis (Margy) Cahill; Terry Cahill; Kathy Cahill; Brian Cahill; Mike (Joyce) Cahill; Tim Cahill; Maureen (Todd) Collins; and Tom (Nicole) Cahill, along with numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews, and many friends from her life in San Antonio.
She was determined and steadfast throughout her life and she combined those traits with a warm-hearted, loving, and caring personality. We would like to express our special thanks to her caregivers Paulette Johnson and Angela Tucker for their wonderful care and friendship for Dorothea; and Crystal Negretes for her companionship and help for our beloved “Aunt Dot”.
A Gravesite Service is scheduled for 11:15 AM on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio with a reception to follow at Aldino’s Restaurant, 1203 North Loop 1604 W at Blanco.
