Donald was a beloved figure in his family, a loving patriarch who is survived by his children, Donald Lee McFarland, Heather Jurhee Riedlecker, Jennifer Flores and his sister-in-law Nancy Lewis and many nieces and nephews. He was a cherished grandfather to Donnovan, Emily, John, Christina, Christopher, Nikolous, and Ella, and a great-grandfather to Layla and Lexi Rubio. The legacy of his kindness and adventurous spirit will undoubtedly live on through them. Although he was preceded in death by his spouse, Catherine McFarland, and his parents, his memory will continue to be honored by his family.
An alumnus of the University of Colorado, Donald's commitment to education was a cornerstone of his life. His passion for knowledge was paralleled by his dedication to his career as a self-employed Home Inspector, a profession that allowed him to utilize his keen eye for detail and his desire to help others.
Donald's life was a testament to the power of following one's passions. With a love for music that was as deep as it was infectious, he not only enjoyed listening to tunes but also took immense pleasure in selling his own music and hearing it on the radio. His songs, much like his life, were reflections of his adventurous and spirited nature. A gathering of family & friends for Donald will be held Monday, October 21, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, followed by a celebration of life from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
