Donald Joseph Hague, SMSGT, US Air Force (Retired) passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the age of 86. Donald was born on August 26, 1928 in Fall River, Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ann Hague, parents James and Agnes Hague, brother Raymond Francis Hague, Sr. and sister Lillian Hague Stafford Olish. Donald is survived by his son Warren Joseph Hague; nieces and nephews, Raymond Francis Hague, Jr., Joanne Elaine Stafford, Judith Marie Stafford Macneil, Kathleen Ann Stafford Pfefferle, Patricia Stafford-Hurkes, Lorraine Ann Stafford Parsons, Rodney “Chip” Earl Stafford, Jr., and Theresa Marie Stafford Louckes.
Donald was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He enlisted in October 1951 and served for 26 years until retiring with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant in October 1977. During his military career Donald traveled to countries throughout the world including England, Japan and most notably Vietnam where he was deployed for a one year tour of duty in 1969. Upon the conclusion of his tour he was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service. After retirement he began his second career as a teacher in San Antonio, Texas. During this time he earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in English from the University of Texas-San Antonio. Donald eventually taught at Holy Cross High School and at schools in the Southwest and Northside Independent School Districts. He attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for many years and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St.Vincent de Paul Society. Donald was a loving husband and father and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The Hague family wishes to thank Las Colinas of Westover Rehabilitation Center and Christus Santa Rosa-Westover Hills Hospital for their compassionate care of Donald during the past year.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 11:30 A.M. Friday, February 20, 2015 for a 12:00 P.M. Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 9883 Marbach Road with internment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Air Force military honors. In lieu of flowers, please offer memorial contributions in Donald’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
