Debra Ann Cash

Debra Ann Cash, born May 2,1954 in Ruston, Louisiana. She spent her early years living in Ruston, then moving a few miles away to Douglas. She attended school in Choudrant from 2nd until 12th grade. She enjoyed school and did well. She met her husband, Paul C. Cash in 1974 and they were married In 1975. They moved to San Antonio TX In 1977. Their only child, Jessica Lyn Cash Smith was born in 1981.

Her careers included Cosmetologist/Beautician, Caregiver for children and young adults with variety of physical/intellectual needs., a supervisor at a sheltered workshop, a Medical Asst, and for her final working years she worked for a variety of contractors and in civil service supporting the military mission at several bases in San Antonio, Texas.

Debra loved being with her family, traveling, dancing, listening to music, and making primitive art pieces that she gave to friends. She liked to be outside, working on her plants and took frequent walks with her rescue dog, “Buddy”.

Debra is preceded in death by her grandparents, many of her aunts and uncles, her cousin Kathy, and her parents, Doris and TW Berry.

She leaves behind, her loving husband, Paul, her daughter, Jessica and son-in-law Matt, four grandchildren, Zachary, Sean, Matthew, and Lynn (all of whom she loved with a passion), her Cash family brother and sisters; Jonny and Angie Cash, Alison Proctor and Lynn Cash, as well as her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and assorted dogs. Her sisters Diane O’Barr, Becky Best, Cindy Ferguson and their husbands, Randy, Don, and Jeff are living in Arkansas and Louisiana along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, cousins, aunties and uncles.

On December 8, 2024, Debra left us after a hard fought, ten-month battle with pancreatic, liver, and kidney cancer. She was 70 years old and was looking forward to a road trip up the east coast and celebrating her 50-year anniversary. She was at home and was surrounded by loved ones when she passed which was exactly what she wanted.

A gathering of family & friends for Debra will be held Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232, followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 PM.
