

Dayle Britt was born in Augusta, Georgia to Jackson E. Britt, Jr. and Edith Whitley on 25 March 1943. She is a graduate of Richmond Academy High School. Just after high school, she married William Joel Barkley and moved to Bath, South Carolina where they began raising his two young sons Mark and Chris. She soon had two children of her own, Britt and Maria. She worked in retail at JC Penny, JB White’s, and Davidsons before moving on to clerical/secretarial work with United Merchants and Anheiser-Busch. She was heavily involved with Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Gloverville, South Carolina. She loved music, dancing, playing with her dogs, and being surrounded by family and friends. She spent 79 years in and around Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina before moving to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to her son Britt.
Dayle is preceded in death by her parents Jack Britt and Edith W. Propst, former spouse Bill Barkley, and son-in-law James L Bates.
Dayle is survived by her husband Robert M. Duncan Jr., stepsons Mark & Kathy Barkley, Chris & Mary Barkley, her children Britt & Suzanne Barkley, and Maria Barkley Bates. Her brother Rusty & Ruth Collins. Two grandchildren Megan Bates and Jay Barkley. Two great-grandchildren Crimsyn and Breyleigh Cotton.
The family will hold a private graveside ceremony at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Sunset Northwest Funeral Home.
