Dana Nolan Sanderson was born February 9, 1960 in Austin, Texas to Charles Ray Sanderson and Barbara Jean (Smith) Sanderson. He was their first child. The family moved to San Antonio and into the Alamo Heights School District when Nolan attended school.
After high school he joined the US Navy and began his nine year naval career, departing the Navy as an x-ray technician. Nolan worked in this profession in Temple, Texas and in San Antonio until he retired in 1916.
Nolan always enjoyed being in the sun and spent many hours fishing at Calaveras Lake and at Port Aransas, and any other new spot he could find.
He kept in touch with many of his school friends through the years and enjoyed reminiscing about their adventures and mini adventures. Though his parents divorced in 1964, Nolan spent many hours with both of his parents and lived with his widowed mother for the past 19 years. Nolan’s only brother Nathan Lane Sanderson, passed away in 2009 which was a heart breaking loss to all of the family.
Always willing to help a friend in need of help with a project or an expense, he was a giving friend to those he worked with.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Jean Mueller and Charles Sanderson, whom cherish the years spent with Nolan. Keeping up with the Spurs and the football teams he followed.
We thank God for our time with him and know that he was looking forward to Heaven when his recent illness became more serious. He had given his heart to Christ and had also led his brother Lane to accept Christ as his Savior. We know that they will be reunited in their heavenly home.
Visitation will be a Sunset Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm, with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
