Clint Bingham, born Feb. 6, 1978, passed away on Nov. 23, 2023, with his loving family surrounding him. Clint was an award-winning musician and H.S Band Director in San Antonio and Educator for 23 yrs. He is survived father Cecil Bingham of Big Spring, TX, his mother Denise Huitt and his stepfather Quert Huitt of Brady, TX., his brother Brandon Bingham and his wife Ruby and their two children Mia Hicks and Kaci Bingham from Big Spring, TX, sister Kara Bingham and her wife Aftan Branch of Midland, TX. Clint was respected and beloved by thousands of students, parents, and co-workers that he touched for over the past two plus decades. He will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, principals, teachers, co-workers, and parents.
Clint was an all-state clarinetist in High School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music from Howard Payne University while also receiving Outstanding Student Teacher award. He was a member of the Heart of Texas Concert Band. He was member of Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE), Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB), Texas Music Education Association (TMEA), and Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA). From 2001 – 2010, served as Assistant Band Director at the Middle and High School level for 3 different school districts in Texas. During this time, led symphonic level concert ensembles and jazz ensembles to success and recognition at UIL, regional, and state ensemble and solo competitions.
Between 2010-2013, He received 1st Division ratings and advanced to Area Marching Contest, and top honors at several marching contests and festivals. He had TMEA All-State 2011 and 2012 (Clarinet) and ATSSB All-State Flute, 2010 at East Central High School.Between 2013-2016, he significantly increased band enrollment at both Kenedy High school and Middle school. At UIL Concert/Sight-Reading Contest, His High school won sweepstakes in 2016, and Division 1 ratings in 2014 and 2015. His Middle school received Division 1 rating on stage in 2016 and His High School performed at the UIL Area Marching Contest in 2013 and 2015.
Between 2016 -2023, He was Teacher of the Year in 2019 at Marion High School. At UIL Area Marching Contest the place 11th place in 2017 and 9th Area Finalist in 2019 and 2021. He received UIL Marching Contest: 1st Division rating in 2016-2020 He received UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest: Sweepstakes in 2017-2023. He also had ATSSB All State Contest: All-State Trumpet 2018-2020 and 2023.
Memorial services will be on November 30th, 2023, at 4pm at Cornerstone Praise Center, 121 North Loop 1604 West, San Antonio, TX 78232.
In leu of flowers the family has requested contributions to be made to any charity of choice promoting music education.
