Bruce Michalczak

Bruce Michalczak of Canyon Lake, Texas went home to the Lord on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the age of 74. Bruce was born in Fresno, California on June 3, 1949 to Melvin and Shirley Michalczak and was raised in Sanger, California.

Bruce graduated from John Marshall High School and went on to achieve his associate's degree in agriculture from Uvalde South Texas College. Bruce joined the San Antonio Fire Department and in time would become the District Chief. After 33 years of service with the fire department Bruce retired.

Bruce enjoyed fishing, golfing, and hunting. He was passionate about teaching and mentoring fellow firemen in their pursuit of being promoted to Chief. Bruce was a kind, passionate, and all around good person. He would do anything for his family and would lend help to anyone who needed it. Bruce was a great cook and an even better storyteller, he would tell the most detailed stories of his life experiences.

Bruce will be remembered for his time with the San Antonio Fire Department as District Chief and he will be remembered for the great love he had for his family.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Kathy Michalczak (née Larremore); children, Wendy Mullins, Jay Michalczak, Megan Michalczak, Darah Reyes, Candice Miller, and Kolt Miller; 8 grandchildren; and his sister, Sharyl Mueller and her husband, Dennis.

Bruce meets in Heaven his parents, Melvin and Shirley Michalczak.

A visitation for Bruce will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Sunset North Funeral Home with a procession to follow going to Zion Lutheran Cemetery #1, 9944 Leslie, San Antonio, TX 78254 for a 11:45 AM committal service.
