Billie M. Rigby

Billie Marie McNaughten Rigby went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2012 at the age of 86. She was born in Wiergate, TX on July 6, 1926. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Granny), great-grandmother, Christian and a dedicated educator.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Archie (Bill) Rigby, who was in the U.S. Air Force, married in 1945 and lived in several US States and Tokyo. They moved to San Antonio in 1961 and it became their permanent home. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Belva McNaughten; and sister, Louise Bailes.

She is survived by her children, William Mack Rigby & wife Sharon and Penny M. Byrne & husband Steve; 5 grandchildren, Will Rigby, Matt Rigby, Ross Rigby, Shawn McDaniel and Paul Byrne; 3 great grandchildren; Mason McDaniel, Lane Rigby and Luke Rigby; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Mrs. Rigby received her BBA from Sam Houston State Teacher’s College, her MEd from the University of Houston, and completed her administrative certification at Trinity University. She devoted 36 years to education, 30 of those with North East ISD. She retired in 1991 as principal of El Dorado Elementary. She was also a longtime member of Crestview Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pastor Marshall Moore officiating.

Pallbearers will be Paul Byrne, Will Rigby, Matt Rigby, Ross Rigby, Mason McDaniel, David Lillis, Steed Smith and Judson Smith. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfunerahomesa.com.
