Mrs. Betty L. Williams passed away at the age of 91 in San Antonio, TX, on Thursday, October 3, 2019. She was born on February 2, 1928, in Tampico, Mexico, to Frank and Guadalupe Pomroy. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children: Helen Rizzo of Irvine, CA, Ken Reynolds of North Port, FL, James Reynolds of Cibolo, TX, Milton Voss, Jr. of Universal City, TX; sisters: Ruth Albert of Converse, TX, Virginia Dial of Tucson, AZ, numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly. She was a highly esteemed businesswoman and well regarded in the community. She earned her Masters in Bilingual Education at UTSA and of her many achievements, she started the LLAVE program, which translated well-known children’s stories from English to Spanish. She retired from Randolph Air Force Base after having received three Employee of the Year awards. As a testament to her intrepid spirit, one of the many activities she undertook after retirement was learning to fly. She was a much-loved member of St. John Neumann’s Roman Catholic Church, as well as, the Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Mokanna and other voluntary and community-based organizations. She was an election judge from Bexar County, a former docent with the San Antonio Zoo and was heavily involved with the Institute of Texan Cultures. Betty touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm at Sunset Mausoleum Chapel, Sunset Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, 11:30 am, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, with interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park.
