Bennett Houston Stampes Jr., age 100, a beloved figure of San Antonio, Texas, and a Charter Member of the Greatest Generation, sadly left our world on Saturday, May 25th 2024, after a life richly lived in service and kindness. Known for his participation in Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Bennett was a beacon of light and hope in our community, touching lives as an active member of the veterans association. Preceded in death by his wife, Shirley and son, Steven, Bennett’s memory will be a guiding star for all who knew him. In remembrance, a funeral service for Bennett will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Shearer Hills Baptist Church, 360 Interpark Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78216. Following the funeral, a committal service will be held at 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #4, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, where we will honor Bennett’s service to our country and his enduring impact on our community and our hearts.
