Beatriz A. Loya, age 89, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Beatriz was born May 15, 1933 in Hidalgo, Texas and was raised by the Ayala and Guerrero Family’s. She graduated from McAllen High School and attended Pan American College. She later retired from the Edgewood Independent School District as a teacher's aid for 21 years in bilingual education. Beatriz was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, the Guadalupana society as well as TOPS (Taking off Pounds Sensibly) and loved embroidery.
Beatriz is preceded in death by her parents, Toribio and Santos Herrera Ayala & Jose and Cipriana Guerrero; her husband, Saul Loya Sr.; and her son, Saul Loya Jr. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Irene Mireles (Joe), and Gloria Quintanar (Luis); her grandchildren, Raul, Rebecca (Capone), Roxanne, Crystal, Jennifer, Luis Jr., Miguel, Jennifer Q. and Maribel her great grandchildren, Jacob, Elijah C., Jonathan, Joseph, Jeremiah, James, Elijah Q, Gabby, Jaylen, Jasmine, Esabella, Pierce, Jayden, Gabriela, Tiersa, Kailey, Mariah, Raul III, Angelina, Capone Jr., Cappella, Catalyna, and her great great grandchildren, Leona and Jonah; as well as numerous, brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for Beatriz will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78205. A procession will depart the funeral home at 9:00 AM for a funeral mass on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Little Flower Basilica, 1715 N Zarzamora St, San Antonio, Texas 78201. A graveside service will follow at First Memorial Park, 20567 TX 16, Von Ormy, Texas 78073.
A very special thanks to our mother’s caregivers Olga Zamarripa and Terry Mancillas for the many years of personal care as well as the Three Oaks Hospice nurses Ruben, Cheyenne, and Rosie who took such awesome care of our mother.
