Annette Reily Plemmons, 94, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on September 25, 2014 at the Army Residence Community. Annette was born on January 10, 1920 in Atlanta, Georgia. She never lost her attachment to Atlanta or her sweet Southern accent. Her mother, Regina Jarvis, was from Philadelphia and her father, Robert Emmet Reily, was from Savannah, Georgia. Annette had six siblings: Robert, Mary, Jean, Helen, Dorothy, and John. The family was quite comfortable until the Depression when times became very tough for her family, but still she had the best memories of her early years in Atlanta and loved to tell stories and reminisce about her childhood. Annette was especially close to her father and always remembered him as a loving and devoted parent. She attended parochial schools in Atlanta and throughout her life remained very strong in her Catholic faith. She married her beloved husband, Sam A. Plemmons, on February 28, 1942 in Atlanta. They were married for 57 years, until Sam passed away in 1999. Annette Plemmons wanted to be a wife and a mother and she excelled at both. She loved her husband, supported him and followed him around the world as he built his career in the Army. And when it came to mothering, she put her heart and soul into it. She raised a family of five children, enjoying the opportunities and dealing with the difficulties of a life in the armed forces. Duty stations included Tokyo, Japan, starting in 1947, and then: San Antonio, Texas; Washington D.C.; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Heidelberg, German; Denver, Colorado; Honolulu, Hawaii; and finally, San Antonio. Life was not always a bed of roses but she was a rock for everyone in the family, always there no matter what. Annette Plemmons was a lovely person in every sense of the word and anyone who knew her well will miss her very much.
Annette’s children are Sam Plemmons, Jr., Patrick Plemmons and his wife Linda, Annette Plemmons, Timothy Plemmons, and Robert Plemmons and his wife Rita. Grandchildren are Christopher Brinster and his wife Melodee, Daniel Plemmons, Leah Plemmons and her husband Josiah Stevenson, Mark Plemmons and Camille Plemmons. Rosalee Annette Brinster is Annette’s great-grandchild. Annette was predeceased by her husband Sam Plemmons and by her son Sam Plemmons, Jr.
