She was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and soon after started with her retail career with Joske's of Texas for 20 years and ended with her retirement at the age of 89 from Macy's at River Center Mall.
She was a lady of true grace and elegance and one cannot begin to describe the fullness of her life. Alice was a force of nature and everyone was struck by her energy and presence. As a devout Catholic it was her faith that helped her in the final months of her life. She was a member of St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church.
At a very young age her love for Spanish and Folkloric dancing took her to perform at city venues throughout the Southwest. She was one of the original performers of the summer production "Fiesta Noche del Rio" at the Arneson River Theater.
She married Joe G. Muniz in 1948 and together raised two sons. They were married 46 years until his death in 1994. Alice was preceded in death by her father and mother; son, Gary D. Muniz; her sister Carmelina Esquivel and brother Louis Cardenas. She is survived by her son Michael Muniz and various nieces and nephews.
She was a proud member of the American Business Women of America organization and held various board positions. She was named Women of the Year for 1984-85.
A funeral mass is scheduled for May 13, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. Burial will be immediately afterwards at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, shelter #4. Fr. Jim Schellenberg will officiate at the service. A special thank you to her nieces, Bertie Juarez and Emma Preciado, for their loving vigil in her last hours.
