Alfred Stremmel, born March 5, 1930 in New Braunfels to Alfred Ernst and Hedwig Stremmel, went to be with the Lord, January 31, 2016 at the age of 85. He graduated from Thomas A Edison High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Alfred was employed for 25 years by the D.C. Brandt Construction Company, after which he began his own remodeling and construction business specializing in custom-built kitchens.
Alfred was a member of the Hermann Sons’ Harmonia Lodge and the Beethoven Männerchor. He was a lifetime member of the Martinez Social Club enjoying both Polka and Western dancing. He was also a lifetime member of the Good Sam Club and was a current member of the Canyon Sams Chapter. Alfred attended and was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille Richter Stremmel; four children; Sherry Hefner, Janet Catanach, Alfred Stremmel III and Andrew Stremmel; three grandchildren Matthew Hefner, Holly and Catherine Catanach; one great grandchild Charles; sister Elsie and brother-in-law O.D. Lancaster and their children/ grandchildren.
A visitation will be held, Sunday, February 7, 2016 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway. A Funeral service will be held Monday, February 8, 2016, 3:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hermann Sons Retirement Home, in care of Hermann Sons Grand Lodge, P.O. Box 1941, San Antonio Texas 78297.
